Our free initial case review is to determine if we can assist you with your legal needs. Each contact form submission, email or phone call intake (subject to the restrictions below) receives a prompt review by at least one attorney. Many are viewed by several of our attorneys to determine whether we should get involved in your case and move forward with a more thorough case evaluation.
Case Review Limited to Our Areas of Practice
We practice in the areas of personal injury & wrongful death, divorce & family law, and criminal & DWI defense. Our practice is limited to these areas. We do not review cases or respond to inquiries outside our practice areas.
Case Review Limited Geographically
Our firm is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We do not handle any cases outside of New Mexico. As such, we do not review cases or respond to inquiries on cases arising outside of New Mexico.
New Mexico Statewide Personal Injury Practice
We handle personal injury and wrongful death cases throughout New Mexico. Our attorneys review each and every personal injury inquiry on personal injury cases within New Mexico. At least one of our attorneys will review the information that you provide.
Divorce & Family Limited to Albuquerque, Rio Rancho and Surrounding Counties
With rare exception, we limit our practice in the area of divorce and family law to Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, and the surrounding counties. It is typically cost prohibitive to a client to hire an Albuquerque firm for cases in courts located hours away.
Keep in mind that we bill hourly on divorce and family law cases so that the client would be billed for travel time. This can get extremely costly in divorce and family law cases especially where there is higher levels of conflict requiring multiple court appearances.
As noted, on rare occasions such as when a client does not want a local attorney, has fairly unlimited financial resources, understands that the attorney fees are likely to go very high, and finally, is able to put down a very considerable retainer, we would entertain the possibility of taking a case distantly located from Albuquerque. As one might imagine, this is an extremely rare situation.
For divorce and family law inquires in areas remote from Albuquerque, we do not review the case or respond to online inquiries for the reasons set forth above. If you believe your situation reflects the prerequisites above, please contact us by phone at (505) 242-5958 .
Criminal & DWI Defense Limited to Albuquerque, Rio Rancho and Surrounding Counties
For much the same reasons that we must geographically limit our divorce & family law practice, we must also limit our criminal and DWI defense practice to Albuquerque, Rio Rancho and the surrounding counties.
As with divorce & family law, the fees associated with criminal and DWI representation in courts remotely located from Albuquerque would be extraordinary. For criminal & DWI defense, we make no exceptions to our geographical practice restrictions.
Because we do not practice in courts remotely located from Albuquerque, we do not review cases or respond to inquiries on these cases.
Free Case Review Process
The free case review process does not mean a free consultation. There are cases that we can immediately identify as cases that we cannot take on. In these cases, again subject to the restrictions above, one of our staff will contact you to try to point you in the right direction if we can.
We strive to respond as quickly as possible so that your legal needs are not put on hold. If the case is the kind that we believe we can assist with, we will often require additional information for a fuller evaluation. Legal cases are complex and often require significant information. Once we receive this additional information, again there is a review by at least one attorney to determine whether to move forward in the evaluation process.
We Reserve the Right to Refuse Any Case at Our Own Discretion
Please understand that submitting a contact form, emailing or calling us does not obligate us to take your case. Nor does contacting our firm create an attorney client relationship. An attorney client relationship is created only upon the signing of a representation agreement with our firm.
We reserve the right at our sole discretion to refuse any case for whatsoever reason. However, we will review your information as quickly as possible to determine whether we can move forward with the evaluation process. In the event that we both would like to continue with the evaluation process, your case will move to the next stage with a practice area specific evaluation process. The process for each practice area is outlined in the following pages.
